William + Nikki’s Engagement Session ~ Savannah Wedding Photographer

Nikki and William are getting married this Saturday, so it was a must that I blogged about their E-Session before their nuptials! We got together several months ago at William’s childhood home on the island and started our session off with a “family” photo. May and Bailey are William and Nikki’s adorable children, or as some people may know them – their precious doggies. We were able to capture several great photos before the doggies’ patience disappeared.

The back side of the island is yummy especially near the end of the day. We took advantage of William’s grandmother’s dock and the abundance of marsh grasses were amazing, then headed to the Savannah Yacht Club to add a little more water to the background. Water is a love that both William and Nikki share, so we had to incorporate the river along with the beautiful masts that line the dock. These two did lots of laughing and giggling that day, some of it at me and my crazy suggestions.

The sun was near the horizon, so we jumped in the car and sped downtown for a change of scenery and wardrobe. Savannah’s beauty radiates at the end of the day. No matter how long you’ve lived here, she is always beautiful! We headed around a couple of blocks then down to the river front to catch the sun setting behind the bridge. The sand gnats wanted to carry us away, but we finished our session quickly with some gorgeous shots on Factor’s Walk, attempting to bring out William and Nikki’s serious side. Love all the cuteness in the photos below!

Can’t wait for lots more giggles on Saturday! The weather is looking perfect and I know your day will be one to remember forever! xoxo!!!

These are the kind of photographs this couple can treasure for a lifetime – seriously. I personally think your “silly” suggestions create the best pictures – especially for someone like me who does not feel comfortable in front of the camera! Best of luck, William and Nikki.

Doggies ~ My World

It’s rare that I share anything about me – personally, so I thought I should start, at least every now and then. So, let’s start with my kiddos. Yeah, obviously the furry ones since the title of this blog refers to my Doggies. For right now, my husband and I have three furry kiddos who we love dearly. You’ll meet two of them here; our other furry kiddo is our crazy fat cat Mason.

Nina is my black girl, named for Nina Simone. When she was tiny and 10 weeks old, she was rescued from the Greensboro, NC pound by a dear friend who talked me into taking her. Not sure what breed she is exactly, but she definitely has some Lab and possibly some Whippet or Greyhound – she can run like the wind! Once I brought her home with me – home was Wilmington, NC at that time – my roommates thought I was crazy because, well, Nina was crazy! She had more energy then anything you had ever laid your eyes on, but oh how smart she was/is! She’s been every where with me over the last 12 years – yep she’ll turn 12 June 16th and that is so hard to believe! Most vets don’t believe me when I tell them how old she is. Aside from her greying beard, she acts like she is in her prime – meaning she has calmed down a little, but still has lots of energy and can still run like the wind! She’s my girl!

Eli is our white cuteness. Less then a year into my husband’s and my relationship, he wanted an American Bulldog and I refused to let him buy a pure bred dog. That’s just how I feel about the pet thing – there are too many poor pound puppies out there to buy a $300+ dog; to each their own. Eli wasn’t exactly a pound puppy, but he was not living in the most sanitary or ideal circumstances, so we gave the owners $40 to take him off their hands. He is actually part American Bulldog and part Pointer. He has the eyes of cuteness! Everyone that sees him immediately falls in love with him. He just makes you want to say “Awwww, Mr. Eli!” He is our sweet boy and loves us unconditionally. He hates it when we leave him at home and loves a car ride with the window down – as does Nina. Mr. Eli will be turning 9 in August – wow, just writing that shocks me that he is already that old. He still feels like our little boy!

Anyway, at this point you can gather that we love our doggies whole bunches! Several months back I was blessed with a package in the mail that happened to be a gold box. For all us Nikon lovers, we love a little gold box, no matter the size! I was upgrading my 50mm lens and am now a proud owner of the Nikkor 50mm 1.4G – Love! Well, once you open a new package, you have to try it out – whatever it might be. So, I decided to try it out on my doggies. They are with me all day; following me up the stairs to my office to work, down the stairs for lunch, back up stairs to finish up the day and are by my feet always! Snoring most of the time – gosh life is so hard for them! Anywho, take a look – here are my furry kiddos – taking advantage of the wide open f-stop and beautiful natural light coming in from the windows. Can’t wait to print a few of these on canvas!

Great photos! As one of the roommates referenced above, I remember Nina getting fired up each night around 11 pm and doing her wind-speed laps around our small apartment! She is a good girl. And Mr. Eli sure is photogenic with those eyes.

It’s good to see Nina looking so sweet! I love her little face. The eyes wide shut shot is my favorite. She looks like she’s smiling :-) . Eli is gorgeous, too! Great fur babies!
